Statin as a Risk Factor for Cataract in Cases of Antioxidant Gene Polymorphism in Pakistani Population

نویسندگان

چکیده

Introduction: Cataract is main cause of reversible blindness and visual impairment. Risk factors include anti-hyperlipidemic drugs such as statin. However, the mechanism statins a risk factor for cataracts not clear. The antioxidant effect statin reported in some studies while other showed negative results. This study was conducted to understand association cataract users with gene abnormalities.
Objective: To investigate formation Pakistani population.
Methods: multi-centric case-control Karachi, Pakistan between September 2019 2020. A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at rs2070424 locus superoxide dismutase (SOD1) gene, rs1050450 glutathione peroxidase (GPX) rs7943316 catalase (CAT), were examined polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using high resolution melting curve (HRM) technique 250 patients.
Results: ratio seen found that it 1.5 times increased SOD1 mutations, benefit 1.2 reduced GPX mutation 1.1 CAT mutations.
Conclusion: Statin those patients who have mutated genes. be genes compared non-mutated ones. proved associated development population.

The RETN gene rs1862513 polymorphism as a novel predisposing marker for familial Acne vulgaris in a Pakistani population

Resistin (RETN), recently found to be relevant to inflammation and inflammatory disorders. We, therefore, aimed to investigate the potential role of RETN gene polymorphism in pathogenesis of acne vulgaris with familial history. We investigated the RETN-420C/G polymorphism in 180 patients with acne vulgaris and 180 healthy individuals in a case-control association analysis. In this study, we als...

Genetic Polymorphism of CYP2C19 in Pakistani Population

CYP2C19 polymorphism is associated with pretreatment drug response prediction, metabolism, and disposition. Pakistan consists of a population comprising of various ethnic groups residing in different regions of the country each claiming diverse ethnic origins. The identification of CYP450 genotypic composition of these populations is therefore necessary to avoid adverse drug reactions in these ...

Maternal Betaine Homocysteine Methyltransferase Gene Polymorphism as a Risk Factor for Trisomy

Disorder in re-methylation process of homocysteine to methionine due to mutation in betaine homocysteine methyltransferase enzyme (BHMT) coding gene, leads to decrease in S-adenosyl methionine (SAM) synthesis which takes part in DNA methylation as a methyl donor. As a result, it can promote hypo-methylation of DNA, chromosome instability, and chromosome missegregation, which in turn is one of t...
